NPWT Therapy for Ukraine:
Less Disabled in Society

In the context of modern military aggression and aggravation of the situation, NPWT becomes an integral part of the treatment of wounded servicemen and civilians. The use of this technology in conditions of stress and high risk has become one of the key areas of work of the KOLO Charitable Foundation.
The history of the NPWT is testament to how science and technology can come together to improve the quality of care. The KOLO Foundation actively implements innovative treatment methods to provide the best possible medical care to those who need it. She seeks to improve standards of care and promote wound healing in difficult times.

Problem with consumables in hospitals in Ukraine and Call for Charity

Due to the military aggression emergency, Ukrainian hospitals face an urgent need to have an adequate supply of consumables to NPWT machines to provide effective medical care to the victims. The use of modern technologies, such as negative pressure therapy (NPWT), requires constant access to special disposable materials (sponges, adapters, canisters) to ensure the correct and effective treatment of wounds.

Advantages of NPWT include:

  • Accelerating wound healing: Vacuum helps reduce the time it takes for the wound to heal.

  • Reducing infectious risk: Vacuum helps to remove contamination and exudate from the wound, reducing the risk of infection.

  • Reducing tissue swelling: Negative pressure helps reduce swelling, which helps improve blood supply and reduce pain.

  • Possibility of use for different types of wounds: NPWT can be effective for the treatment of various types of wounds, including burns, injuries and surgical wounds.

Program for the supply of NPWT devices in Ukraine

Thanks to the program for the supply of NPWT devices and the stock of distributors, which was implemented by the KOLO Foundation during the first half of 2023, we provided 84 hospitals with the necessary number of devices and distributors for 3 months. Most hospitals are already facing the challenge of not having the necessary supplies. This jeopardizes the possibility of providing quality health care to those who need it most.

Appeal to the Public and the Corporate Sector

The KOLO Charitable Foundation calls on all citizens and enterprises to join the charity campaign for the purchase of consumables for almost 90 Ukrainian hospitals. The most critical moments require immediate action, and we are confident that with the help of the public and the corporate sector, we will be able to provide hospitals with the necessary means to treat the wounded and sick.

Generous Tuesday and Long Campaign Launch

We invite you to join us this Generous Tuesday, when CF "KOLO" launches a long-term campaign to raise funds for the purchase of consumables for NPWT devices for hospitals throughout Ukraine.
It is important to emphasize that providing hospitals with the necessary consumables will not only save lives, but will also reduce the number of people with disabilities in society. Through our shared humanitarian responsibility, we can make a meaningful contribution to the health and well-being of our fellow citizens.
Together we are strong, together we can change lives!

NPWT Help and the wound healing process

Initial attempts used simple vacuum concepts to improve the wound healing process. However, the real revolution took place only in the second half of the 20th century, when efficiency and safety issues came to the fore.

Development and Modernity:

In 1997, inventor Leonard P. Muller designed the first device for NPWT, known as "Vacuum Lunochka Therapy." Since then, the technology has been constantly improved, allowing medical specialists to effectively treat various types of wounds and wounds.

NPWT (Negative Pressure Wound Therapy), or negative pressure therapy, is a wound treatment that uses special devices to speed up the healing process. The main idea is to create a vacuum or negative pressure over the wound, which helps to remove exudate (a rarity that forms in the wound), reduce tissue swelling and improve blood supply.

The main components of the NPWT system include a special plastic or rubber film apparatus that covers the wound, tubes for exudate removal and vacuum supply, and a vacuum pump that creates negative pressure.
It is important to note that NPWT should be used under the supervision of a specialist and be prescribed taking into account the specific features of the wound and the patient's condition.
